Fort Amsterdam, Abandze
1 / 5About this experience
Built by the English between 1638 and 1645 as Fort Cormantin — the name that followed captive Akan people to Jamaica as “Coromantee” — and taken by the Dutch admiral Michiel de Ruyter in 1665. It stands on a bluff above Abandze with the sea on three sides. A UNESCO World Heritage site, less visited than Cape Coast and Elmina, and quieter for it. — Indicative price. Entry and guide fees at this site are set by the body that manages it and change from time to time; the amount is confirmed when you book.
