Fort São Sebastião, Shama
1 / 5About this experience
Built by the Portuguese in 1523 at the mouth of the Pra, this is the third oldest fortification standing in Ghana — older than Christiansborg, older than every British fort on the coast. Portuguese, then Dutch, then British; a lodge, a fort, a prison, a post office. UNESCO-listed in 1979. — Indicative price.
