Fort Saint Anthony, Axim
1 / 5About this experience
Portuguese, 1515 — the second fort they built in Ghana after Elmina, and one of the oldest European buildings in sub-Saharan Africa. The Dutch took it in 1642 and enlarged it considerably before handing the coast to Britain in 1872. It stands on a rock above Axim with the Atlantic on three sides. UNESCO-listed. — Indicative price.
