Krobo glass bead making, Odumase
1 / 5About this experience
The Krobo have made glass beads for centuries and still make them the same way: bottle glass pounded to powder, layered with dye into clay moulds, and fired in a wood kiln until it fuses. You crush glass, fill a mould, and come back for what the kiln gives you. Beads are not decoration here — they are worn at the dipo rite that marks a Krobo girl's passage to womanhood. The Agomanya bead market trades on Wednesdays and Saturdays. — Indicative price.
