Mankessim market and the Fante heartland
1 / 2About this place
Mankessim is the traditional capital of the Fante, founded by the three warriors Obrumankoma, Odapagyan and Oson, and its market is one of the biggest trading grounds between Accra and Takoradi — fish from the coast, yam and plantain from the forest, cloth, enamelware and herbs. Market days are the ones to come on. Nananom Mpow, the sacred grove, is just outside the town. — Indicative price.
