Nakore Mosque, Upper West
1 / 5About this experience
One of Ghana's ancient Sudano-Sahelian mud-and-stick mosques, standing in the village of Nakore southwest of Wa. Buttressed pillars, projecting timbers, a conical minaret — the same building tradition as Djenné, carried south across the Sahel. It is a working mosque and a living building, re-plastered by the community. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times; dress modestly and ask before photographing people. — Indicative price. Entry and guide fees at this site are set by the body that manages it and change from time to time; the amount is confirmed when you book.
