Ussher Fort, Jamestown, Accra
1 / 5About this experience
The Dutch built Fort Crèvecœur here in 1649 on the rocky point between two lagoons, and the British renamed it Ussher Fort. It became a colonial prison — Kwame Nkrumah was held in it — and the cells are part of what you are shown. It stands in the middle of Jamestown, so the fort and the fishing harbour below it are one walk. — Indicative price.
